Activity Description
Test your team’s knowledge of the year’s biggest moments in a fun, Jeopardy-style quiz. From global events and pop culture to science, sport and Guiding highlights, this fast-paced challenge is a great way to reflect on the past year and work together as a team.
Starter (Optional)
Before jumping into the quiz, we recommend giving girls a chance to settle in whilst waiting for others to arrive with something creative. We’ve included two printable worksheets you can use as a starter activity:
-
2025 Reflection Sheet – A chance for girls to think about what they’ve achieved over the past year, what life is like for them right now, and whom they want to become.
-
2026 Bingo Sheet – A fun way to set new year goals. Girls can write down hopes and ambitions for the year ahead and cross them off when they achieve them.
As a leader, you can keep hold of these sheets and return them at the end of the year or when the girls move on from your unit. It’s a powerful way for them to look back and see everything they’ve achieved during their time in Guiding.
How to Play
1. Split into teams - Split the group into teams (We recommend teams of 3-5).
2. Choose a category & points - Decide which team starts, taking turns to each pick a question. Categories run across the top (e.g. Music, Sport, Pop Culture, News). Each has questions worth 100–500 points (higher points = harder questions). Once used, a question can’t be chosen again.
3. Ask the question - The leader reads the question aloud (or reveals on the slide by clicking the points box). Teams have 30 seconds to discuss and agree on an answer. Each team may only give one final answer.
4. Scoring - Correct answers earn the points and picks next question. Incorrect answers allows another team to “buzz in” and steal the points. If no team gets it right, the question just goes unanswered and no points are awarded. Use the button on the top of the slide to reveal the answer and return to the board.
5. Winning - When all questions are complete, the team with the highest score wins!
Looking for programme ideas?
This activity can support skills such as reflection, communication and teamwork. Leaders can choose how it best fits within their existing programme planning. If you’d like programme links for how this could fit alongside your existing planning, feel free to get in touch, I’m always happy to share what cards have worked for me.
Keeping the Adventure Alive
At Hummingbird HQ, the goal is to keep resources free, accessible and available to leaders nationwide after a challenging period for my own unit, when rising costs and uncertainty around meeting spaces made it clear how fragile access to guiding activities can be. That experience shaped a commitment to sharing resources openly so that more leaders can be supported without added cost or barriers. Every donation, big or small, helps keep Hummingbird HQ running and enables the creation and sharing of new, free resources with leaders everywhere.
Donations are handled through Ko-fi, a safe and trusted platform for supporting creators. You can donate quickly and securely via PayPal or card, with no account needed.
