Activity Description

Bring the excitement of House of Games into your unit! This quiz-style activity lets teams compete in a series of mini-games, each testing a different skill. From memory challenges and word puzzles to creative drawing and quick recall. It’s light-hearted, competitive, and guaranteed to get everyone laughing.

You Will Need

  • A projector, laptop or printed quiz board

  • A scoreboard (whiteboard, flipchart, pen/paper)

  • Phones/Stopwatch

  • Optional: Buzzers

Starter (Optional)

Set the mood with a warm-up round as the girls arrive, something simple and fun like Kim’s Game. Place around 20 small objects on a tray and let the group study them while everyone is arriving. Once the everyone has arrived, cover the tray with a cloth. Teams then work together to write down as many items as they can remember. It’s quick, creative, and gets everyone into the game-show spirit before the main activity begins.

Rounds

  • Rhyme Time → Guess pairs of rhyming answers.

  • Distinctly Average → Estimate answers, closest average wins.

  • Win When They’re Singing → Stop the clock when the first lyric begins.

  • I’m Terrible at Dating → Guess the right year for historic events.

  • You Complete Me → Fill in the missing word to complete a phrase.

  • Where is Kazakhstan? → Plot locations on a map.

  • Two Opposites Attract → Match two clues with opposite meanings.

  • Games House Of → Solve mixed-up phrases and names.

  • This Round is in Code → Crack the code to reveal the answer.

  • Answer Smash → Combine two answers into one silly phrase.

How to Play

1. Split into teams - Split the group into teams (We recommend teams of 1-6).

2. Ask the questions - The leader reads the question aloud (and shows the slide). The first team to “buzz in” (hands up, bell, or shout their team name) gets to answer first. If they’re wrong, they are not out; all teams can continue to buzz in and try until the correct answer is given or time runs out.

4. Scoring - Correct answers earn a point. Incorrect answers allow another team to “buzz in” and steal the points. If no team gets it right, the question just goes unanswered, and no points are awarded. You may award bonus points for creativity or for making you laugh in certain rounds.

5. Winning - When all rounds are complete, the team with the most point

wins!
